Silva Bakery is owned and operated by Alvaro Silva. He is joined in the daily operations by his son, Bruno Silva. Alvaro is a Portuguese immigrant that settled in the San Francisco’s East Bay in 1976.

The bakery has been operating as a Portuguese bakery since the mid 80′s as Hiser Bakery. In March 2008, Alvaro changed the name to Silva Bakery.

breads with all natural ingredients and zero trans fats.

We offer many handcrafted varieties of traditional breads, cakes, and pastries. Papo secos (soft rolls) and Pão de Milho (corn bread) are made fresh daily. We also carry a variety of imported goods such as cheeses, canned sardines, tuna, octopus, cod fish, frozen sardines, mackrel.  In the refrigerator, you will also find local linguiça products and dry cod (bacalhau). If you are not in the region, we also ship via UPS. We’re more than happy to fulfill special requests including custom goods to meet dietary needs, one of a kind items to commemorate life events, etc. Custom orders may include garlic, olives, sun-dried tomatoes and other ingredients. Please call for more information and special requests. We can work with customers to create custom products provided enough time is given to produce a sample.
